EDCs in Germany: Running the discussion on EDCs
Promote the political discussion on EDCs on German policy level for achieving decent EDC criteria and strategy on EU level, which guarantee a high level of protection for human health and the environment

The project aims to inform policy makers on the issue of EDCs and the need for speeding up policy measures to reduce exposure to EDCs. Additionally the project aims to bridge policy related activities on international, European and German level.
Germany is an important player in the discussions about EDCs and EDC criteria on EU level. The German position is still split between a more pro-industry position of the BfR and the more progressive position of the UBA. In general the issue of regulating EDCs is not very high on the German political agenda. This project is part of the WECF's general campaign work on EDCs.
Activities and Objectives of the Project:
Panel discussion for/with policy makers, scientists and media in Berlin
As a continuation of her advocacy work with key state actors from Ministries and Agencies, WECF organised a panel discussion in January 2016 in Berlin to bring EDCs and the German position again on the focus to the political agenda. WECF invited representatives from Ministries (Health and Environment), Agencies (BfR and UBA), Scientists (Endocrine Society, Academy for Environmental Medicine, etc.), NGO Partners and Media. Creating synergy effects by networking on German, EU and international level
WECF conducted the following activities:
- Facilitating the exchange of information of German NGO activities,
- International policy level: WECF participated at ICCM 4 of SAICM in Geneva in October 2015. WECF co-coordinated the work of international NGOs on EDCs in this process.
