From May 31st to June 11, 2010, a climate conference in Bonn, Germany was held in preparation of the next big climate summit meeting, to be held in Mexico in December 2010. Given the lack of political action in Copenhagen, a Climate Wave Alliance was formed to put pressure on the pace of the negotiations and to give out a clear sign that climate change and climate justice needs to be worked on.
Climate change increases inequalities between countries and between genders. While women and men contribute differently to creating climate change, they also suffer its impact differently. The effects of climate changes are especially noticeable in areas that define the life of women in many regions on earth and where women must take on responsibilities for food security, health, water, and energy supplies. Women are also particularly affected by natural disasters, whereas they are rarely involved in climate policy decisions. The women's action was fun and was important because climate issues are inseparable from questions of gender justice. In the climate discussions as yet the perspective of women and their specific impact has unfortunately had little input so far. Their strategies for dealing with climate change and its potential for climate change are barely visible. In policy-making bodies, women are hardly represented.
The Climate Alliance women's action was part of the many voices around the world for climate justice. We call for concrete action in the north, as the expansion and development of renewable energy and energy saving, instead of life extension of nuclear power plants and building new coal plants! We are committed, an environmental policy (climate, water, Biodiversity) in the north and south, in a life in harmony with nature take precedence over the destruction, exploitation and profit.
Our next goal is to work on joined activities in October 2010 to accompany the 10th Biodiversity Conference in Nagoya (Japan), 12 to 29.10.10 in the International Year of Biodiversity. We will continue to connect and work together, and look forward to another fellow activists.
EcoMujer, WECF und WLOE mit "Frauenflügel" am 5. Juni 2010 in Bonn dabei
Vom 31. Mai bis zum 11. Juni findet in Bonn eine Klimakonferenz statt zur Vorbereitung der Klimakonferenz im Dezember in Cancun (Mexiko). Wegen der 'politischen Tatenlosigkeit' in Kopenhagen hat sich das Bündnis 'Klimawelle' zusammengeschlossen, um Druck zu machen auf die Verhandlungen und ein klares Zeichen zu setzen für Klimaschutz und Klimagerechtigkeit. Das Bündnis hat am 5. Juni, dem UNO-Tag der Umwelt, zu einer Demonstration in Bonn aufgerufen. Es war eine bunte und laute Demo, an der viele Gruppen und vor allem viele junge Leute beteiligt waren.
Unsere Frauenaktion hat Spaß gemacht und war wichtig, weil Klimafragen untrennbar sind von den Fragen der Geschlechtergerechtigkeit. Unsere Flyer, in demwir den Gender Bezug zum Klimawandel thematisierten, wurde von vielen Passantinnen gerne und interessiert angenommen!
In den Klimadiskussionen fand bisher die Perspektive von Frauen und ihre besondere Betroffenheit kaum Eingang. Auch ihre Strategien zum Umgang mit dem Klimawandel und ihr Potential zum Klimaschutz werden kaum berücksichtigt. In politischen Entscheidungsgremien sind Frauen kaum vertreten.
Der Klimawandel verstärkt Ungleichheiten zwischen Ländern und auch zwischen Geschlechtern. Frauen und Männer tragen unterschiedlich zum Klimawandel bei und sie sind von den Folgen des Klimawandels auch unterschiedlich betroffen. Die Auswirkungen der klimatischen Veränderungen zeigen sich insbesondere in den Bereichen, die das Leben von Frauen in vielen Regionen dieser Erde besonders bestimmen und wo Frauen Verantwortung übernehmen müssen:
Nahrungssicherung, Gesundheit, Wasser, Energieversorgung. Naturkatastrophen treffen Frauen in besonderem Maße. An den Entscheidungen zur Klimapolitik sind Frauen wenig beteiligt.
Unsere Frauenaktion war Teil der vielen Stimmen von der Basis weltweit für Klimagerechtigkeit. Wir fordern konkrete Maßnahmen im Norden, wie den Ausbau und die Weiterentwicklung der erneuerbaren Energie und das Einsparen von Energie, an Stelle von Laufzeitverlängerung der Atomkraftwerke und den Bau neuer Kohlekraftwerke! Wir setzen uns ein, für eine Umweltpolitik (Klima, Wasser,
Biodiversität) im Norden und Süden, in der ein Leben im Einklang mit der Natur Vorrang hat vor Zerstörung, Ausbeutung und Profitstreben.
Unser nächstes Ziel sind gemeinsame Aktivitäten im Oktober 2010 begleitend zur 10.Biodiversitätskonferenz in Nagoya (Japan) vom 12. bis 29.10.10, im InternationalenJahr der Biodiversität. Wir werden uns weiter vernetzen und zusammen arbeiten, und freuen uns über weitere Mitstreiterinnen.
