Solar collectors can be used as easy and efficient way to produce energy, warm up houses and water. It is important to make people aware that solar energy is nothing complicated, neither expensive and it can be built with locally available products. Especially, inhabitants of rural areas can make us of it in due to stimulating the rural development.
Other way to stimulate rural development is to build and uses fruit dryers so the final product can support households’ budgets.

The training was organized by WECF and the local partner MAMA 86 Nikolaev in the frame of the ELA programme, with co-finance from the Polish organisation "East Foundation". Participants were NGO members from the WECF network, from MAMA 86 Ukraine and from the network of East Foundation. The training took place in a tourist camp at a riverside near Nikolaev. During the training, two solar collectors and two solar fruit dryers were constructed. One solar collector has been installed on the roof of the restaurant kitchen of the tourist area. 2 hours after installation, the kitchen staff already did the dishes using warm water from the sun! One solar fruit dryer also will be used by the staff that is living there.
The second solar collector and solar fruit dryer have been given to the monastery of Melitopol, who also participated in the training with 2 persons.
