For over 1 year the 4 coalition partners, WECF, Friends of the Earth International, Interface for Cycling Expertise and Global Forest Coalition have worked with their local partners, including representatives of the 200 network members in over 65 countries and 64 civil society organisations in the 9 countries where the programme will be implemented, on the preparation of the proposal.

The proposal has 2 parts, a global programme and a 9-country programme. The countries where the programme will be implemented are Afghanistan, Brazil, Colombia, Georgia, India, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, South Africa and Uganda. Together with the 64 partners in the 9 countries, the local programme plans were developed based on an analysis of the problems, needs and perspectives of climate vulnerable groups, in particular women, indigenous peoples and urban poor.

The Coalition for Climate Justice will contribute to improving livelihoods and reducing poverty of climate vulnerable pour by integrated activities, from creating local capacity to set up small businesses in the areas of renewable energy, forest protection, non-motorized mobility and water harvesting and reuse, -especially for women-, to promoting national and global policies which include safeguards for vulnerable groups.

In January 2011 the Coalition will be informed if it has also passed this second part of the funding application process, and if its programme proposal totalling 28 million Euro will receive a grant.
