Women Ministers and leaders discuss Rio+20 at 26th UNEP Governing Council Meeting, Nairobi
Possible policy outcomes for Rio+20 Conference on Sustainable Development in 2012 in Brazil

More than 35 ministers, secretary of state and directors of environment departments, and another 30 women leaders from civil society and UNEP took part in the breakfast meeting organised by the secretariat of the NWMLE at UNEP.
The 2-hour meeting was chaired by the Minister of Environment of Ghana, Mrs. Sherry Ayittey and co-chaired by the Minister of Environment of Spain, Mrs Rosa Aquilar, who is currently the president of the Governing Council of the United Nations Environment Programme.
Hon. Elizabeth Thompson of the UN, assistant executive coordinator of the Rio2012 conference, - and former minister of environment - presented her views and wishes for high level women’s contributions to the policy outcomes of Rio2012.

WECF executive director Sascha Gabizon, member of the network, gave a presentation on the possible outcomes which women ministers could reflect on to bring to the UN Conference on Sustainable Development, which will take place from 4 - 6 of June 2012 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
