25.03.2011 |Chantal van den Bossche and Fedde Jorritsma

Fedde Jorritsma worked the last 4 years as a trainer for WECF in Central Asia on practical solutions for sustainable living including ecological sanitation, solar collectors, solar dryers, drilling wells and hand-pumps.

“I worked in Kenia on sanddams, in Suriname on soil fertility management and in Central Asia on sustainable household technologies. All these countries I explored also by bike and realized how cycling and inspiring people can go together”

The organization 'Bike the Earth' was initiated by Chris Le Breton who facilitated many environmental projects around the world. In July 2010 a small group of enthusiastic people started the expedition in New Zealand. They inspire people for sustainable living via different networks along the route like transition-towns, eco-villages and environmental-organizations. Everybody who is motivated can join the group, learn, cycle and share knowledge & skills. For more info go to: www.biketheearth.net

As of May 25th Fedde joins the group in Singapore as a trainer and a cyclist: "I am very motivated to spread practical solutions for sustainable living together with 'Bike the Earth' and would like to invite more people to join.”

Every week they intend to cycle 300-500 km, conduct 1 day training and different seminars. They offer trainings for free but need some money for food, visa's and bike repairs which is expected to be around 120 Euro per week per person. Therefore they ask for voluntarily contribution of participants and looking for donors. The route is depending on the demand and practical considerations.

Chris and Fedde offer the following trainings along the route:
