Women’s Vision for Sustainable Development at UNEP Governing Council/Global Ministerial Environment Forum, February 2012, Nairobi, Kenya

Sascha Gabizon, WECF executive director and co-chair Women’s Major Group, presented the Women Priorities for the Rio+20 Zero Draft at the meeting of the Network of Women and Leaders for the Environment

On the 21st of February 2012 in Nairobi, delegates of the civil society convened for the meeting of the Network of Women Ministers and Leaders for the Environment to address sustainable development in respect of gender issues.

At the meeting, Sascha Gabizon, WECF executive director and co-chair of the Women’s Major Group, presented Women Priorities for Zero Draft and emphasised women’s vision for the UN Conference on Sustainable Development to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in June 2012. She stressed the importance to incorporate social justice as a cross cutting aspect in the institutional framework at national and international levels and promote gender-responsive sustainable development institutions.

The meeting of the Network of Women Ministers and Leaders for the Environment on the 21st of February was organized as a breakfast event at the 12th Special Session of the UNEP Governing Council/Global Ministerial Environment Forum that took place between 20 and 22 February in Nairobi, Kenya.
