Experts roundtable on Endocrine disrupters (EDCs): impacts and mechanisms of action from conception to maturity, Paris, April 10th

Consequences of exposures, in particular perinatal, to EDCs on women’s health and the health of children later in life: criteria for EDCs, a critical step towards an effective public health policy in Europe

On April 10th, a roundtable organized by WECF France gathered senior scientists, public authorities and civil society representatives to discuss “Endocrine disrupters (EDCs): impacts and mechanisms of action from conception to maturity”.

 Beyond the general scientific assessment of EDCs adverse health effects, the event has been an opportunity to explore solutions towards new public health and research policies, adequate to the EDCs challenge. With EDCs criteria being discussed at EU and national levels, elements such as critical windows of vulnerability, chemical mixtures assessment, low-dose and non-monotonic dose-responses must be urgently integrated into EDCs research policies, whereas prevention measures and a precautionary must be implemented at a global scale to protect vulnerable periods such as pregnancy and early-life from harmful exposures with lifetime consequences.
