Japan after Fukushima; Looking for Justice.

More than thousand inhabitants of Fukushima decided to sue Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) in order to disclose matters that were not included in the investigation launched by the government.

The representative of the inhabitants’ group is Ruiko Muto, who as the other residents of Fukushima led a peaceful life. After the nuclear disaster in 2011 her life changed dramatically as her house surrounding was contaminated with radioactive material. Ruiko Muto decided to act and currently she leads the group of 1324 people from Fukushima who demands justice. Besides focusing on new issues passed over by the government, the lawsuit aims for assigning responsibility of 33 individual for the violation of law and endanger human life.

The top management of TEPCO needs to face also a lawsuit filed by TEPCO shareholders who are demanding 70 billion US dollar of compensation. The money is meant for victims of the nuclear disaster.
