WECF's Kyrgyz partner CAAW organised first Water Forum in Osh, Kyrgyzstan
The Forum allowed for a dialogue between local authorities, Water Users’ Committees, activists and the broader public from 14.-15. March 2013.

Installations and art projects demonstrated how valuable the resource water is, and how much people are dependent on adequate drinking water supply. Engaging schools and universities in projects the conference and its topics were spread across the general public. Competing against each other in their respective categories, artists, journalists, and school children were awarded prizes for their work and commitments.
The success of the Water Forum and its positive resonance ensured that it will be happening on an annual basis from now on. With it, there will also be an annual award ceremony for ‘best organisations working in the field of water and sewerage’. Bringing together creative activities and political campaigning, the forum also produced a statement of the Water Users’ Committees leaders addressing the state of the drinking water supply and inadequate sanitation in Osh, which was delivered to the Mayor.
Furthermore, the ‘Blue Book’ was released and circulated which lists key messages on drinking water supply and sanitation. With it, the collected artworks, articles, statements, and other information will be released as additional, independent publications. Thus, water will be brought into the public’s conscious to solve the ‘insolvable’ problems.
