Petition to ban hormone disruptors (EDCs) in consumer goods

WECF supports the Danish online-petition to ban all EDCs EU-wide which will be delivered to the European Commission

04.03.2013 |WECF

One of the focus areas of WECF is raising awareness for the negative health effects of endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs). The Danish Consumer Council has launched an online-petition to ban EDCs in all consumer goods EU-wide. If successful, the petition will be delivered to the European Commission. WECF fully supports this petition and encourages everyone to sign it here as well.

EDCs are repeatedly linked to sever illnesses such as infertility, early onset of puberty, behavioral disorders, and even breast, testicular, and prostate-cancer. EDCs interfere with the sensitive hormone system of the human body, which is why already low doses can have severe effects. Especially pregnant women and young children are vulnerable to EDCs. WECF offers publications and free information material on this issue, and also raises awareness through the Nesting Project.

You can also find more information on the Danish Consumer Council’s general campaign against EDCs here.
