In Session V, which focused on partnerships for sustainable development, Anke Stock, gender expert of WECF, spoke about gender in the energy-related activities of civil society. Inter alia, WECF highlighted the need for more innovative and decentralised household level approaches since they tend to benefit more the needs of women. The paper which was submitted to OSCE can be downloaded here.
The Forum was attended by many delegations of participating States to the OSCE, other OSCE centres and various IGOs as well as some NGOs. Generally, the need for energy efficiency and renewable energy was recognised. However, WECF was the only representative of a women’s and gender group and thus the echo after the presentation was high.
