CSW58: A Feminist Declaration for Post 2015

Gender, Economic, Social and Ecological Justice for Sustainable Development

06.03.2014 |

Back to back with the 8th session of the Open Working Group on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a Feminist Strategy Meeting took place in Tarrytown, near New York, bringing together 60 representatives of feminist and women organizations from different policy processes. The meeting resulted in the Feminist Declaration on post 2015.

WECF thinks it is a strong declaration and therefore widely supported and spread to declaration encouraging women's organisation to endorse the statement.

Over 340 international, regional and national organizations in 143 countries have endorsed the Feminist Declaration for Post 2015, calling for a sustainable development agenda based on gender, economic, social and ecological justice. This is a strong message to the UN, calling for member states to come up with a truly transformative Post 2015 agenda.

The Feminist Declaration for Post 2015 was the result of the Feminist Strategy Meeting held in Tarrytown, New York, during the second week of February. The meeting was organized by the Center for Women’s Global Leadership (CWGL), Development Alternatives with Women for a New Era (DAWN), the International Planned Parenthood Federation – Western Hemisphere Region (IPPF/WHR), the Realizing Sexual and Reproductive Justice Alliance (RESURJ), and Women in Europe for a Common Future (WECF).

The three-day meeting brought together 60 representatives of feminist and women’s rights organizations and networks, working on sexual and reproductive rights and health, environment, agriculture, economic and social rights, peace and security, gender-based violence and women’s human rights generally, with the aim of producing a shared vision and strategy toward 2015.
