01.05.2014 |WECF France
WECF France supports the work of Armenian
association AWHHE, which aims to strengthen the power and potential of women in
rural Armenian society. AWHHE’s project encourages Armenian women to
participate more in sustainable rural development, by creating
revenue-generating economic activities which are linked to sustainable
agriculture.
With the aim of contributing to the global objective of eradicating poverty by 2015, the project will promote gender equality and female empowerment by encouraging greater participation amongst Armenian women and girls. It will do so particularly in the area of sustainable rural development, aiming for women’s active inclusion in social life at a community level.
Objectives
The main objectives of this project are to empower, mobilise, and strengthen the role of women within communities. By providing women withentrepreneurial skills, via workshops on economic mechanisms and revenue-generating activities, the project can empower local women and benefit their independence. Additionally, a local resource center for women will be set up. This center can provide examples,
experiences, testimonials and documents, and more importantly accomodate women with resources to fall back on.
