WECF and WMG at 1st UN Environment Assembly
Gender Forum and Network of Women Ministers and Leaders Meeting

WECF Director Sascha Gabizon chaired the high-level panel on Gender Equality Priorities at the "Gender Forum at UNEA" on Monday 24th of June 2014, with the environment minister of Cuba, the secretary of state of Kenya, the head of the environment agency of Sierra Leone, the gender director of the African Development Bank, the coordinator of the Kenyan 2nd Ladies "JoyfulWomen" and the Director for SDGs/Post2015 of UNEP.
The following members of the Women's Major Group spoke at the Gender Forum:
- Caroline Usikpedo, Niger Delta Women's Movement, Nigeria, on "conflict resolution related to natural resources"
- Imogen Ingram, IPEN, on "women, chemicals and waste"
- Isis Alvarez, Global Forest Coalition, on "anchoring gender equality and environmental sustainability in the SDGs/post2015 agenda"
- The Gender Forum drafted concrete proposals for the environmental women ministers to bring to the attention of the final round of negotiations on the Sustainable Development Goals in July 2014.
