Women and Gender Constituency made statement at Social PreCOP

‘Women want system change, not climate change’

23.09.2014 |

Representatives of the Women and Gender Constituency (of which WECF is a member) attended last June the Preparatory Meeting of the Social PreCOP on Climate Change in Venezuela. The meeting was organized by the Government of Venezuela on Margarita Island from 15-18 June 2014. The Social PreCOP wants to ensure that proposals and demands of popular movements and organizations are heard when the drafting of the new global agreement on climate changes, to replace the Kyoto Protocol, takes place. The representatives of the Women and Gender Constituency drafted a statement about the inclusion of the critical perspectives of women’s human rights, feminist, social justice organizations and alliances into the Social PreCOP process.

The statement can be found here.
