Organisations worried about future environmental health protection under new Commission
Requests for changes in structure new Commission
02.10.2014 |
They are concerned because the structure of the new Commission, as they say, shows a downgrading of the environment and a step back of existing EU commitments to for example climate action and sustainable development. Therefore the Green 10 appealed to the European Parliament to block the new Commission due to its structure and to demand some changes.
The Green 10 established a list with formal requests for a change in the structure of the Commission: “Establish a Vice-President for Sustainability, upgrade the Vice-President for Energy Union to a Vice-President for ‘Climate Action and Energy Union’, ensure the Environment portfolio is reinstated and resolve potential conflicts of interest for the nominees”.
More information on the requests can be found here.
