France grants asylum to Russian environmental activist and WECF partner Nadezhda Kutepova
Kutepova fled her native country in July 2015 with three children, after being labelled 'foreign agent' by Russian authorities

After Russian authorities labelled Kutepova as a 'foreign agent', she fled in July with her three children to France. After nine months she obtained now offically asylum.
Russian environmental activist and member of WECF's International Advisory Board, Nadezhda Kutepova, obtained officially asylum in France. Kutepova fled with her three children in July after Russian authorities blacklisted her organization "Planeta Nadezhd". With her NGO she helped victims of the Kyshtym nuclear disaster in 1957, but was rated last year as a 'foreign agent' as she received grants from abroad. Russian legislation empowers authorities to crack down foreign-funded NGOs as they 'pose a threat to the country’s constitutional order, defence potential or state security’. After being declared as 'foreign agent' on TV, she decided on advice of her lawyer and for the good of her children to flee. With support of human rights organisation she escaped to France, where she lived the last months.
A press conference will take place with Nadjezda Kutepova and Natalia Manzurova in Paris on Wednesday April 13th, from 9:00 till 11:00.
