First edition of WECF’s “DESIGN-MOI UN JOUET” (Design me a toy) contest

Two teams of students were awarded for their creative designs of healthy toys

16.01.2018 |

WECF France launched the first “DESIGN-MOI UN JOUET” contest in 2016, with the goal to raise awareness among students in design schools on the green, sustainable and healthy design of  toys for small children (0-3 years). In November 2017, two teams were awarded with an award for their designs.

With the help of its experts committee, WECF defined criteria which the designs had to fulfil. A jury of six professionals from the design, engineering, eco-design and toys safety fields selected and advised the participants. 10 projects were submitted by students from France, Belgium and Switzerland. Four from these were selected to present their prototypes. After a final deliberation the jury decided to award two projects. The first prize was given to Eleonore Sense and Nora Dupont from the ENSCI School (Paris), who designed “Pluzz”, a toy made from wood and natural rubber. The second prize was granted to Nina Balleydier, Laurine Farjanel and Mathilde Lacroix from Licence Design of Bordeaux University for “Tortugo”, an evolving baby made from natural textiles.

An exhibition took place in Paris in November 2017 where all the projects were displayed, with 60 people attending. The exhibition was created by students of  the IPAC-DESIGN School from Geneva. This successful first edition of the contest will be followed by others in the near future.
