Participants of 21st Network WASH meeting in Berlin

On 18th of June and 19th of June the German Toilet Organization hosted the Menstrual Hygiene Dialog Forum and the 21st Network WASH meeting in Berlin.

The Menstrual Hygiene Dialog Forum was organised by WASH next to its annual network meeting in Berlin.
Examples from different menstrual hygiene practices in countries in Africa and Asia were presented by participants from WASH United, GIZ and other stakeholders. There were lively discussions with in-depth knowledge exchange, high level participation, together with plenty of opportunities for new collaborations.

Bistra Mihaylova from WECF presented an example from Macedonia related to MHM, which shows that there are no proper facilities and no equipment for waste disposal in the schools in the country. In primary and secondary schools more than 80% of the female students don’t attend school during their period days.

The 21st Network WASH meeting was held with 25 participants - the topics covered were presenting a Compendium of Sanitation Technologies in Emergencies, preparation for the World Water Forum in Stockholm and updates from each partner organisation about its recent activities on the topic of water and sanitation.

Sascha Gabizon, the international Director of WECF, presented the results from an event at the international trade fair for water sewerage, waster and raw materials management IFAT in Munich. The German WASH Network together with DWA convened a session led by the two network member organisations WECF and Borda.
