Together for sustainable sanitation and water security worldwide!

Stockholm, 26-31 Aug 2018: WECF participated in the World Water Week 2018 to further support the worldwide implementation of SDG 6

01.09.2018 |

United we can tackle the SDG 6 (water and sanitation for all) – the World Water Week (WWW) made an important contribution to this by expanding and strengthening networks and sharing knowledge and experiences.

This year, WECF was again among the nearly 3,500 participants from about 135 countries. The WWW was themed "Water, Ecosystems and Human Development". It included numerous varied and exciting sessions (more than 200 lectures, workshops etc.) about sanitation. There were also many booths where we had the opportunity to inform ourselves and present the activities of our network. As in 2017, the proportion of women and men among the participants was almost balanced, which is a positive development for this rather technical sector.

Verena Demmelbauer and Sascha Gabizon from WECF as well as council member Dr. Claudia Wendland and our partner Natasha Dokovska from Macedonia attended the WWW. Natasha Dokovska presented the activities of the Balkan-WaSH-network and WECF’s activities on “Water and Sanitation Safety Plans”. Sascha Gabizon and Claudia Wendland each moderated a round table during the workshop “O&M – The Mantra for Sustainable Water and Sanitation Services” . Verena Demmelbauer will co-moderate the working group on WaSH in schools  in the SuSanA-network.

The WWW was a unique opportunity to exchange with experts and publicize the results of our networking activities.
