WECF and partners all over Europe start GoodFood4All Campaign

06.11.2018 |

We live in a world where food is messed around with. It’s produced using harmful chemicals that damage our health, wildlife and the environment. It’s packed in plastic and unnecessarily shipped around the world. Farmers don’t make a decent living, neither in Europe nor in the global south.

Access to quality food and proper nutrition is not a reality for millions of vulnerable people in Europe and worldwide who are still fighting malnutrition and undernutrition. A lot of our energy comes from nutritionally worthless junk food and drinks. The average adult is three times more likely to be obese today compared to 1975 . The situation is even worse for undernourished mothers who cannot provide for their children and as studies show, the first 1000 days of a child are crucial for their development and any damage is irreversible.

It is time to rethink how we grow, share and consume our food. If done right, agriculture, forestry and fisheries can provide safe and nutritious food for all and generate decent incomes, while supporting people-centred rural development and protecting the environment.

Good food starts with sustainable, organic farming. Or should we say superheroes who are Protectors of Soils, Guardians of Biodiversity and Defenders of the Earth! Share and help us spread the word!
