Beacon conference on Integrating Chemicals Safety in Belgrade, Serbia

The conference “Chemical and product safety in the Western Balkans” taking place in Belgrade, Serbia on 11 of April, will address shared lessons learned from a 2-year EU-funded project on the issue. Preliminary results of the national consultations on possible priorities for a post-2015 development agenda will be presented, and recommendations formulated.

The conference will be opened by Mrs. Leposava Sojic, Assistant Minister of Energy Development and Environmental protection of Serbia, together with Borka Jeremic, representing the United Nations Country Team in Serbia and Sascha Gabizon, executive director of WECF international.

Other speakers include Petteri Mäkelä of the European Chemicals Agency ECHA of Finland and representatives of the Ministry of Environment of the FYR of Macedonia and the Public Health Agency of Albania. 100 participants from Serbia, Western Balkans, EU and international level have registered, already marking the conference a beacon event in chemical safety in the Balkans. 

The conference is organised by WECF International, UNDP Serbia and non-governmental partners from the Western Balkans, with support of the European Union and the Ministries of Environment and Health of Serbia.
