WECF at the World Water Week 2013
01.09.2013 | Stockholm, Sweden
The World Water Week is hosted and organised by the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) and takes place each year in Stockholm. The World Water Week has been the annual focal point for the globe's water issues since 1991.
Every year, over 200 collaborating organisations convene events at the World Water Week. In addition, individuals from around the globe present their findings at the scientific workshops.
Each year the World Water Week addresses a particular theme to enable a deeper examination of a specific water-related topic. While not all events during the week relate to the overall theme, the workshops driven by the Scientific Programme Committee and many seminars and side events do focus on various aspects of the theme. 2013 theme is Water Cooperation - Building Partnerships.
WECF will be present at the WWW Stockholm from September 3 -5.
On 5th of September, 09:00-12:30, the Convenorīs German WASH Network and Sanitation and Water for All host the seminar "Aid Effectiveness in WASH Relief to Development Transition"
http://programme.worldwaterweek.org/event/aid-effectiveness-in-2870
WECF is one of the founders of the German WASH network
The transition from relief to development provides unique opportunities for promoting government leadership in the WASH sector, reforming service delivery institutions, aligning aid and building on service delivery capacity provided by NGOs during relief. Countries that seize these opportunities can increase their resilience to external shocks. This seminar discusses current barriers and possible actions toward smoother relief-to-development-transitions in the WASH sector - from the perspectives of governments, donors and NGOs.
