Regional EECCAA meeting in Batumi of the Women2030 project

05.06.2016 | Batumi, Georgia

The EECCA (Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia) regional meeting of the Women2030 project, the first of four regional meetings for the project, takes place in Batumi, Georgia, from 5 – 10 June. This meeting will be held back to back to the EfE Ministerial Conference “Environment for Europe” in Batumi.

The ECCAA regional meeting brings together gender experts and gender-focussed civil society organisations from Ukraine, the Caucasus and Central Asia and focusses on implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In particular, the meeting provides an introduction to the Women2030 project, introduction to the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development and the role of civil society in the SDGs process, including the challenges and opportunities in the EECCA and EU region. A core component of the meeting will be on gender-responsive implementation of the SDGs, including tools and existing practices. The regional meeting also facilitates exchange between civil society organisations and regional policy-makers as it is being held in parallel with the Ministerial Conference.

The Women2030 global project aims to build capacity of women’s civil society organisations to advance local and regional equitable, inclusive and environmental sustainable development (including the 2030 Agenda and climate change processes) through participation in policy development and monitoring and capacity building.
