Participation of WECF in High-Level Segment of the Conferences of Parties to the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions, 4-5 May 2017, Geneva
WECF Director Sascha Gabizon will take part as Panellist during the interactive Panel discussion on the morning of 5 May 2017, as part of the High-Level Segment of the 2017 Conferences of the Parties to the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions, to be held on 4-5 May 2017 at the CICG Conference Centre, 17 rue de Varembe, Geneva.
Sascha Gabizon will talk on Gender and POPs.
The three conventions aim to protect human health and the environment from hazardous chemicals and waste. The 2017 Conferences of the Parties will take place from 24 April to 5 May 2017 under the theme “A Future Detoxified: Sound Management of Chemicals and Waste”. The High-Level Segment will have three main sub-themes:
1. Opportunities for a detoxified future in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its Sustainable Development Goals;
2. Opportunities for strengthened implementation through partnerships; and
3. Opportunities for reducing waste and pollution while enabling economic and social prosperity.
A programme for the High-Level Segment will follow.
approximately 1,500 officials and stakeholders from countries around the world will participate in the Conferences of the Parties and that the High-Level Segment will include some 95 ministers, deputy ministers and ambassadors (provisional numbers).
