Women’s Global Call for Climate Justice

WECF on the road to COP21

| WICF Campaign

Countries: Global
Donors: Institutional and private donors
Issues: Energy & Climate; Gender & Rights
Duration: 11/2015 - 01/2016

As momentum is gathering for the international climate negotiations in Paris this December, WECF is engaged in the Women Climate Gender Coalition to put pressure on governments ahead of this important milestone.

WECF is worried about deteriorating climate conditions that destroy ecosystems and livelihoods by causing mega storms and tsunami’s, drought, desertification, pollution, rising sea levels and many more urgent problems. If you agree with WECF's disappointment with the reactions of governments and corporations, please join us in our call for climate justice.

Our Executive Director Sascha Gabizon and Climate & Energy Director Sabine Bock will express our worries and dissatisfaction with an unfair economic system that is driving climate change and the lack of female voices in issues of climate justice in the Women’s Call for Global Climate Justice in Paris in December.

The Women’s Global Call for Climate Justice is an initiative by several CSOs focusing on women’s rights to launch action and create awareness on the harms of climate change and particularly on the effects on women and the role of women in a more sustainable future. The initiative will build up to the UN Climate meeting in Paris in December to make sure that these important issues are raised in the meeting. It entails monthly themes focusing on different aspects of climate change, such as energy, the economy, power and solutions for climate change. Join by launching your own initiative for a more sustainable future or by supporting others in their projects.

COP delegations:  For many years WECF has regularly sent delegations to the COP negotiations, flagging up the issue of climate change and women's issues and helping to frame climate mitigation policies through the language of gender and health co-benefits. To find out more about being part of our COP21 health delegation, please contact us.

WECF is a member of the GCSA, of HEAL, the Health and Environment Alliance, that will also be present focusing on the health aspects of climate change and of the Women and Gender Climate Constituency.
