The Women's Major Group (WMG) and Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) New York Office together with UNWOMEN organised the side event, "Strengthening Gender Justice and Human Rights to Achieve Sustainable Development," September 19th, at the United Nations Trusteeship Council Chamber, New York, USA.

The UN Trusteeship Council Room was full with over 200 people, including many representatives of governments. There were 3 hours of gripping evidence from our speakers - Vivienne, Azra, Caroline, Marisa, Bhumika, Noelene, Sascha - on the need for gender and economic justice, and questions and comments from the floor.

This event launched the joint publication of WMG/FES paper titled "Strengthening Gender Justice and Human Rights to Achieve Sustainable Development" as well as the WMG compilation document "Gender Equality, Women's Rights and Women's Priorities: Recommendations for the Proposed Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Post- 2015 Development Agenda", from which the WMG/FES paper is drawn. These publications highlight women's perspectives on sustainable development themes and provide detailed analyses and recommendations.
