European citizens sign against Nuclear Energy

"One million Europeans demand the phasing out of nuclear energy"

150 organisations started in 2004 to collect signatures. The petition is scheduled till the 20. anniversary of the nuclear catastrophe in Chernobyl (April 26, 2006). At the moment 200.000 persons signed the petition. The signatories demand European heads of states and governments to give nuclear a clear refusal.

They refer to § 3 of the draft European constitution (the one which was rejected by France and the Netherlands). If one million citizens of the EU support the action, according to the new EU Constitution the European Commission has to react on the demands of the initiative.

The action is organised by atomstopp_atomkraftfrei leben! [stop nuclear-living without nuclear energy!] , an Austrian organisation.
