WECF Greek partner orgnises chemicals and health conference with 1700 youth

7th Youth Conference “Sustainable and Toxic Free Future” organised by Clean up Greece

Clean up Greece is an environmental NGO, based in Athens and has been active since 1993. Clean up Greece is official partner of the Mediterranean Action Plan (MAP) of UNEP and affiliated to the organizations “Clean up the World”, WECF – European Women for a Common Future and EEN - EPHA Environment Network.

The goal of Clean up Greece is to promote public awareness, in order to improve the current envir_mental situation in Greece.  One of the main environmental education programmes of Clean up Greece is the Annual Environmental Youth Conference, which was established in 2000 and has been successfully taken place in the last years in Athens, Thessaloniki, Heraklion/Crete and Patras with participation of 5.500 students discussing themes as:
 “Environment & Olympics 2004”, “The city I would like to live in”, “My Neighbourhood”, ”Water - a Drop of Life”, “Clean Energy”, “Sustainable Schools”.

The 7th Environmental Youth Conference with title “Sustainable and Toxic Free Future” in the framework of the European Life/ENV Programme ‘SB-Med’ will be organized in the following cities:
 
  • Athens - 8th February 2006
  • Thessaloniki - 15th February 2006
  • Heraklion Crete - 24th February 2006
  • Volos - 27th February 2006

1.200 students will present their research, thoughts as well as proposals with speeches, slides and Video.

Greetings will be addressed by representatives of the European Parliament, European Union, United Nations Environment Program, Municipalities and Government.
