Protocol on Water and Health - First Meeting of Parties!

On January 16-19, 2007 the first Meeting of the Parties (MOP-1) to the Protocol on Water and Health took place at the Palais des Nations, in Geneva, Switzerland.

The secretariat has posted on their website the opening speeches, the meeting's highlights, the powerpoint presentations and some pictures! .

These include the speeches presented by:

Anna Tsvetkova, Eco-Forum Water issue Group and MAMA-86 water coordinator
Sascha Gabizon, for Eco-Tiras, WECF executive director
Diana Iskreva, for WECF, director of Earth Forever Foundation Bulgaria

There were two official representatives of European ECo-Forum (Anna Tsvetkova and Sergiy Vykhryst) and six representatives of WECF: Sascha and Margriet, WECF, Diana "Earth Forever" Bulgaria, Mihaela, M&S Romania and Elena Zubkov from Moldova took part in the MOP-1.

Anna Ttsvetkova presented the NGOs' Statement presented at MOP-1 and gave interventions during the sessions about NGOs work at local level.

WECF proposed to contribute to the implementation of the work plan 2007-2009 .

Anna Tsvetkova spoke on improving access to safe water in EECCA at the Round table “The Human Right to Water and the Protocol on Water and Health: making access to water a reality”.

Diana Iskreva and Sergey Vykhryst were nominated and elected by the member states to by the NGO representatives on the Compliance Committee.
