Sustainable waste water management – the project
Since 2006 sustainable sanitation technologies have been tested by 4 WECF partner organisations in the project "A sustainable, decentralized waste water management for Kyrgyzstan". So far the project has introduced different models of Urine Diverting Dry Toilets (UDDT) and ecological soil filters for grey water treatment to several rural areas in Kyrgyzstan. UDDT need no water for flushing, while make it possible to have comfortable sanitary facilities without bad odours. They contribute to a better health of the population, preserve human dignity and protect the environment. The project is funded by the German ministry of the environment.
The conference will be attended by 200 visitors and the event will take place in the State Historical Museum of the Kyrgyz Republic . The conference will be followed by a visit to sanitation projects around Bishkek, on November 12, in the afternoon.
