The Aarhus Convention is a legally binding instrument guaranteeing access to information, public participation in decision-making and justice in environmental matters. The new EU regulation will apply parts of these rules to the institutions and bodies of the European Union.
WECF welcomes that the regulation will improve access to environmental information and public participation. However, WECF shares the concerns of EEB about the failure to guarantee effective access to justice at EU level.
