An update for 2014 on the EWA programme in South-Africa

Our South-African partners and our EWA partner from Uganda participated in a Gender Workshop organised by WECF. In the workshop the partners have analysed the dynamics of gender within their own organisations and have been introduced to the subject of gender as an overarching challenge in their work.
As part of the EWA programme already several courses from the local DES (Durban) and Soil for Life (Cape Town) took place in South-Africa, where especially disadvantaged women learned how to create sustainable gardens and how to maintain them. The cultivated food can be used both for own consumption as well as selling on the market. The interest of the participants was very high and they are motivated to implement at home what they have learned during the courses. They will be further supervised in the long term in a mentoring programme.
