 On February 15, International Conference “Thermal solar and insulation technologies and policies in Georgia” was organized in Sheraton Metekhi Palace.

ARTICLE IN GEORGIA TODAY "HARNESSING SOLAR ENERGY"

To reach a favorable legislative and social-economic base for the development of thermal solar and insulation technologies, a stakeholder dialogue was organised and cooperation was established during the Conference.  The potential of NGO interventions in the development of renewable energy sector in Georgia was discussed as well.
 
The conference was attended by experts, representatives of governmental, non-governmental and International organizations, officials from diplomatic corps and parliament as well as different financing institutions.
 
During the conference a joint NGO declaration was elaborated related to development of energy sector of Georgia and its general directions.
 
The conference was organized by Women in Europe for a Common Future - WECF and the Greens Movement of Georgia / FOE-Georgia together with the European, Georgian and Ukrainian partner organizations in the frame of the project “Building local capacity for domestic solar heating, hot water and insulation for rural and remote areas in the EEC region”, supported by the European Commission thematic programme for environment and sustainable management of natural resources, including energy.
