The Nordic council condems Russia's anti-homosexual law

The Nordic Council strongly condemns the new Russian law banning so-called "homosexual propaganda

the Nordic Council issued a statement criticising the new Russian law aimed at restricting freedom of speech for homosexuals.

The Nordic council is made up of the countries Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. According to Vice-President of the Nordic council, Per-Kristian Foss: "The new Russian law violates not only basic human rights, it also harks back to a dark past that nobody is served by restoring."

In August 2012, the Nordic Council also criticised the Pussy Riot trial earlier in the year.
