Include gender mainstreaming in EU - article by the Working Group Gender +E3
Generally the EU is good at including gender mainstreaming or demanding an equal number of seats for women in decision making groups when it comes to climate change. However, the ambition doesn´t seem to stretch further than developing policies and third countries, and is not reflected inside EU itself.

It was popular at COP18 and we’re carrying it forward in Warsaw!  Come by our exhibit booth at COP19 to tell us what YOU think the benefits are when climate solutions are driven by gender equality. We’ll take a picture, post it online, share it out, and showcase YOU as a voice calling for a gender-sensitive approach to climate solutions.

Gender Decision Workshop – Tuesday, November 12, 3-6pm
GGCA is honored to participate in this unprecedented event!  Pursuant to the COP18 Gender Decision, the UNFCCC Secretariat will convene the first in-session Workshop focused on gender balance and gender equality in the UNFCCC from 3-6pm on Tuesday, November 12.  The COP19 Gender Workshop will be an opportunity for Parties to share national experiences and consider concrete steps with regard to greater gender equality and gender balance.  19 Parties and 10 Observers prepared Gender submissions, highlighting experiences, identifying challenges and recommending needs to be addressed to strengthen gender equality in the UNFCCC – in both policy and practice.  The submissions are available on the UNFCCC website.

Gender Day – Tuesday, November 19
"Gender Day" at COP19 is an opportunity to showcase the importance of mainstreaming a gender responsive approach in policies, programs, and initiatives within the climate change arena.  During this day, many of our members and friends will lead and participate in high-level events, side events and other activities dedicated to the topic of gender while in Warsaw.  Follow #genderday on Twitter for the latest updates.
