8th Environment for Europe (EfE) Ministerial Conference

Greener, Cleaner, Smarter!

Countries: Georgia
Partners: CLEEN partners & Women2030 partners;
Duration: 05/2016 - 06/2016

The Eighth Environment for Europe Ministerial Conference took place in Batumi, Georgia, from 8-10 June, under the theme ‘Greener, Cleaner, Smarter!’

The Environment for Europe process and its Ministerial Conferences provided a high-level platform for stakeholders to discuss, agree and partner in addressing environmental priorities across the 56 countries of the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) region. The process also aimed to help countries of Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia, and South-Eastern Europe to improve their environmental standards.

The Eighth Environment for Europe Ministerial Conference addressed two main themes: greening the economy in the pan-European region; and improving air quality for a better environment and human health. A high-level segment on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) will also take place, with a view to assessing progress during the first 10 years of the UNECE ESD Strategy and its future implementation.

WECF represented the European ECO Forum at the Conference and organised a side event on Emerging Environmental Health Issues in the UNECE region.

Both the CLEEN project and the EECCA (Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia) regional meeting of the Women2030 project, the first of four regional meetings for the project, took place in Batumi, Georgia, June 4,5, 6 and 7, back to back with  the EfE Ministerial Conference “Environment for Europe”.
